The Beauty Chef’s guide to taking beauty supplements

Everything you wanted to know and planned to ask Google.

Article by Danielle Gay

Carla Oates, the “chef” behind beauty supplement brand The Beauty Chef, chats to Vogue about getting the glow.

What’s your own personal favourite way to take the Glow Inner Beauty Powder?
“Glow is my daily staple. It gives me a good dose of skin loving nutrients and also probiotics to nourish and boost digestive health. I take it every morning with Collagen Inner Beauty Boost. They make up my internal beauty routine. Glow is like my internal skin moisturiser/support and maintenance powder and Collagen is like my internal skin serum,” Oates says.
While you can simply take it with water, Oates recommends popping Glow into plain yoghurt. The Beauty Chef has also just launched a Glow Advanced Inner Beauty Powder, a new and improved blend.

How should we take the Body Inner Beauty Powder?
“Body is like the ultimate meal or snack in a glass. It is perfect for when you are running out the door and haven’t had time to make breakfast or in the afternoon when your energy lags and you need a healthy pick-me-up,” Oates explains. “It contains everything I like to see on a plate – easily digested plant protein, fibre, bio-fermented super-fruits and vegetables, alkalizing greens, spices, prebiotics and probiotics.”
On the best way to take it, Oates says “It can be taken daily, mixed with almond, coconut or cashew milk, it is the perfect snack or meal supplement that balances your appetite and gives you a clean, nutrient-rich energy boost. “

If someone wanted to get started with one of the powders, which would you recommend they try first and how should they take it?
“Generally, I would say Glow, however if you are feeling quite toxic and needing a good clean out and that is reflected in your skin, I would recommend Cleanse (alongside our 14-day cleanse program) to begin with and then go on to Glow as your maintenance powder,” Oates says.
“For those looking to achieve or maintain a healthy weight range, I’d go for Body. Glow is for skin and Body is for your body!”
Oates recommends to take your chosen powder with water, your favourite nut or dairy milk, mix it into muesli, yoghurt or a smoothie.

The supplements are listed as a daily drink: what happens if you miss a day? How long until we see results?
“Each Beauty Chef Inner Beauty Powder is formulated for different skin and health benefits, but each is designed to improve gut health and digestion, and promote healthier, glowing skin from the inside out. It depends on the current state of your digestive system for how long it will take to see and feel the results. If it is really out of balance, you will likely notice results straight away, but it may take a few weeks for your tummy to settle as you load it with goodness. You will notice an increase in energy straight away and depending on your gut health, you will notice skin and nail changes within a few weeks,” Oates says. “If you miss a day that’s okay! Just get back on track. Of course like all products, consistency is key, so to see the best results daily maintenance is preferred.”
